Del Sol violist, Charlton Lee joins pianist (and wife) Eva-Maria Zimmermann
in their SF debut. 
 
Charlton and Eva-Maria are pleased to announce their first San Francisco public appearance as a duo, although many Del Sol followers have heard Eva-Maria when she joined the quartet for some concerts in the recent past.  With sponsorship from the Pro Helvetia Foundation, they have put together an exciting program featuring 2 Swiss composers-Honegger and Schoeck, as well as others.

Eva-Maria Zimmermann was born into a family of musicians and began to study with her grandmother at the age of six in Bern, Switzerland, after an exciting young childhood in Indonesia. Eva-Maria graduated with distinction both from the Conservatory of Bern and again for her Artist Diploma from the Conservatory
of Geneva.  Eva-Maria is a founding member of the Charmillon Piano Quartet, which was formed in 1992. Winner of several Swiss national competitions both as soloist and with the Charmillon Piano Quartet, Eva-Maria has performed throughout Europe as well asin Israel and the United States.  She has also appeared as a soloist with several orchestras,including the Bern Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra de la Suisse Romande.  She has participated in solo and chamber music festivals with Isaac Stern, LeonFleisher, Tatjana Nikolajewa, György Sebök and other distinguished musicians.  Eva-Maria came to the United States as a Rotary Scholar at Indiana University in Bloomington. She currently resides in San Francisco,happily married to violist Charlton Lee.

Charlton Lee, violist, is the founder of the Del Sol String Quartet, which has been performing together since 1992.  Charlton received a Bachelors Degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Charlton has performed throughout North America, Mexico, and Europe as both chamber musician and soloist. He is also very active as an educator and chamber music coach, having
taught at San Francisco State University and the Steamboat Springs and Oaxaca music festivals, and coaches regularly for Chamber Musicians of Northern California and the Symphony of the Redwoods. Charlton teams up with his wife, Eva-Maria, to perform piecesfor viola and piano, as the Lee/Zimmermann Duo.  He created and performs music for the award-winning short film, Red, White, Blue, and Yellow. Currently, he is also Artist-in-Residence at the School of the Arts in San Francisco and is a member of the Stephen Pelton Dance Theater.
