The Jupiter Trio was founded on a mutual commitment to the piano trio repertoire, both standard and adventurous. Bringing together three brilliant San Francisco Bay Area performers, the Jupiter Trio has already sparked interest around the country, including appearances at the Olympic Music Festival in Washington State, numerous Bay Area performances, and appearance in Guam. They are planning a tour of the midwest in 2001.

Bios:

Aglika Angelova obtained her degree in music from the Hamburg Academy of Music in Germany, under the tutelage of Volker Banfield. Currently on faculty at the Conservatory of Music in San Francisco, Aglika is an active piano soloist and chamber musician, as well as a passionate performer of contemporary music. She has performed throughout Europe and the U.S. in these capacities, having appeared with such orchestras as the Berliner Symphoniker e. V., the Magdeburg Philharmonia, and the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, and having been Artist in Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada, the Olympic Music Festival in Washington State, and the Moab Music Festival in Moab, Utah. Aglika has won numerous prizes from piano competitions in Europe and the US, and has also been featured on NPR's Performance Today.

RobertWaters has studied at the Juilliard School, the Yale School of Music, and the Cleveland Institute of Music, where his teachers included Robert Mann, Donald Weilerstein, Syoko Aki, and Victor Danchenko. Alongside his duties as Associate Concertmaster of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, Robert has led an active musical life in the solo and chamber repertoire, having performed extensively throughout the US including Marlboro Music Festival, El Paso Pro Musica , and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. A vigorous advocate of contemporary music, Robert has worked closely with such composers as Krysztof Penderecki, Gyorgy Kurtag, Luciano Berio, and Leon Kirchner, and has been featurded on several national broadcasts of NPR's Performance Today.

Julian Hersh received his Bachelor of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory wher his sprincipal teachers were Bonnie Hampton and Irene Sharp. He has appeared as solosit and chamber musician throughout the US, Europe, and the Far East, and is a frequent performer at various festivals, including the Olympic (WA), Moab (UT), and Tanglewood music festivals. He has been the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, having won the grand prize at the Grace Vamos Cello Competition, and having earned the Karl Zeiss award from the Tanglewood Music Center. He has appeared with Yo-Yo Ma on national television in "Marsalis on Music." Julain was afforded the distinguished opportunity of studying and performing the complete Elliot Carter string quartets under the supervision of the composer. He plays a cello by Antonion Straivari, known as the "ex-Vaslin."

Sheryl Renk is the Principal Clarinetist of the San Fransciso Ballet Orchestra, and also Principal Clarinetist of the San Diego Symphony. She was formerly a member of the San Francisco Symphony for your years. Sheryl completed her music education at SF State University and the SF Conservatory of Music where she studied with Donald Carroll. She continued her clarinet studies with Rosario Mazzeo, formerly with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She has played extensively thoughout the west coast, with various orchestras, opera orchestras, and chamber music groups.
